Admissions Information & Instructions
Duke Law School attracts many of the most highly qualified applicants from across the country and around the world, and admission is highly selective. Most successful applicants graduated near the top of their undergraduate classes, have high test scores, and possess a clear record of achievement in other areas, such as community service business, graduate study, or extra-curricular activities.
JD Application
Application materials for the class of 2012 are available in early August, and may be submitted beginning September 1, 2008. The application deadline for February 15, 2009. Applications may be submitted through the LSAC online application service (our preferred method) or by mailing a paper application directly to the admissions office.

Dual Degree Applications
Applicants to the JD/LLM in International and Comparative Law, JD/MA, and JD/MS dual degrees apply directly to the Law School and complete no additional applications. The application deadline for Regular Decision candidates is February 15, 2009. Applications for the binding Early Decision option must be submitted by November 1, 2008.

Applicants to the JD/MBA dual degree submit a single application through the LSAC online application service. Candidates must meet The Duke MBA application deadlines for Round 1 (October 27, 2008) or Round 2 (January 7, 2009).

Applicants to the JD/MEM, JD/MPP, JD/MTS, JD/MD, and JD/PhD dual degrees submit separate applications to the Law School and the other degree school. The Law School application deadline is February 15, 2009. Consult the other degree program application information for its application deadline.

LLM and SJD Applications
Admission for international students to the LLM or SJD programs is separate from JD admission. Prospective candidates for these programs should contact the International Programs office or review the LLM and SJD application process online.
