Our Staff

Tia Barnes
Director of Public Interest & JD Advising

Tia assists students and alumni seeking employment in the public sector, including government, non-profit organizations and judicial clerkships. She also provides general career counseling for all students and alumni. Prior to joining the Career Center staff, Tia served two years as a law clerk for the Hon. Patricia Timmons-Goodson of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Tia is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke Law School. Before becoming an attorney, Tia was a public relations executive in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Gina N. Berg
Director of Judicial Clerkships & Special Projects

Gina is from Virginia where she graduated from James Madison University and worked as a Legal Assistant in the patent litigation department at Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier, and Neustadt. Gina is responsible for organizing projects, overseeing many new office initiatives, managing the Career Center website, and coordinating the clerkship application process. Gina is available to answer any questions you have about the process of applying for judicial clerkships.

Stella Boswell
Career Counselor

Stella works with students and alumni. Having received her undergraduate degree from Duke University, Stella earned her law degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. After law school, Stella was in a litigation practice in Durham. She then served as the Legal Affairs Counsel for the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers where she ran the amicus curiae program and worked as a lobbyist. She is a long-time board member and Past President of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys.

Kelly Briggs
Financial & Information Specialist

Kelly is responsible for maintaining Career Center financial records. In addition, she tracks various information critical to the Career Center's success. She also assists Camesha McAllister with various Duke Law School recruiting programs, such as Spring and Fall OCI. Kelly attended Vanderbilt University and William Smith College. She graduated with a B.A. in Economics. She moved here from Upstate New York with her husband and son in 2006.

Bruce A. Elvin
Associate Dean and Director

A graduate of Stanford University and Duke Law School, Bruce worked for the two years following graduation at the University of Munich, Germany where he also earned a Magister (Masters) in German Law. Upon returning to the United States, he practiced law for two major international firms in New York, Baker & McKenzie and later White & Case. Subsequently, he took on business roles at two high-tech firms. Immediately prior to coming to Duke, Bruce did consulting and recruiting for large law firms and corporate legal departments with Heidrick & Struggles in New York City. While working in New York, Bruce created and taught a course certified by the State for CLE credit on “The Business of Law and Developing Relationships” for law firm associates. Bruce currently co-teaches the “Business & Economics of Law Firm Practice” for 2Ls and 3Ls in the law school.

Chun Hu
Director of Special International Projects and Career Counselor for International Opportunities

Chun received her first law degree from Wuhan University School of Law in China and her two LLM degrees from University of Virginia and NYU, where she specialized in corporate law. She subsequently worked in the Beijing and Hong Kong offices of two international law firms. Before joining Duke Law, Chun worked for four years as an in-house counsel for MassMutual Financial Group. She is fluent in Chinese and English.

Tedi Mason
Senior Career Center Manager

Tedi is responsible for the general operations of the Career & Professional Development Center. Tedi is originally from Minnesota where she graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. She is very involved in the arts and in her spare time teaches voice lessons and enjoys spending time with her dogs, Milo and Briggs.

Camesha S. McAllister
Director of Recruiting in the Career & Professional Development Center

Camesha is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all of Duke Law School’s recruiting programs, including fall and spring on-campus interviews. Camesha graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law in 2004. She received her B.A. in English from North Carolina Central University, where she graduated summa cum laude. Prior to law school, Camesha taught seventh grade at Leland Middle School in Leland, North Carolina.
