This program is principally designed to complement the curriculum available to students in the JD/LLM Program in International & Comparative Law, with a purpose of enhancing their educational experience and career opportunities through intellectually stimulating placements with international legal organizations.

Externship Program Rules
Rule 3-25 on Externship Program
JD/LLM students only may submit proposals for externship semesters at organizations other than those on the pre-approved list. Placements at other organizations require the submission of an individualized externship proposal to the Associate Dean for International Studies who will then submit it to the Faculty Committee on Comparative and International Studies. Before submission to the Associate Dean, the proposal must first be approved and supported by a full-time member of the Duke Law School faculty selected by the student. The proposal must be ruled on by the Faculty Curriculum Committee.
